    Ang Pilipino
    Thursday, June 10, 2010
I just finished watching today's episode of STORYLINE, entitled "Defiance". It's about two Filipinos who defied the norms by doing jobs that were not typically done by other people of their gender. Since it was not what most people were used to, they endured countless piercing comments and criticisms that tried to bring them down. Despite all of the things they had to go through, they still pushed forward in order to help their families.

One particular Pinay caught my attention, because she challenged the status quo by being a jeepney driver. Even though a number of people felt sorry for her, she still stood with her head up high, saying that she's proud of what she does. At least she's earning something and she is able to provide for her family, she says.

Truly, when you witness people like them, you'd be proud to say you're a Filipino. You can count on a Filipino to stay strong in moments of hardship and still have them smiling back at you no matter how hard life may get.

    Mabuhay ang mga Pilipino!
